Small Bites of Amoris Laetitia #4
/Discover God in Everyday Life
Pope Francis has written a love-letter to your families, called The Joy of Love, Amoris Laetitia. To get the good word out to more families, Homemade Disciples Blog offers this series of bulletin or newsletter posts for sharing for understanding The Joy of Love with Families in your parish or organization.
Discover God in Everyday Life
Pope Francis keeps challenging us to bear witness to the Gospel, not just with the words but with our actions. Beginning with his own example of actions in service to the poor and marginalized, Pope Francis reminds all families, however they are constructed, to discover God in their daily lives, and also to participate in the communal life of faith—their parishes.
In addition to attending Mass, Pope Francis encourages families to pray together in their homes during the week, this includes setting aside time to read Scripture. He also encourages families to frequently make confession, seek out spiritual direction, and take occasional retreats together.
It is especially significant when families pray for each other. It is helpful for spouses to give each other quiet times for prayer alone with God since each has his or her secret crosses to bear.
The Pope recognizes that family life can be messy and full of challenges. He calls Church pastors and catechists to let their lives become "wonderfully complicated" by embracing God's grace at work in the difficult and sometimes unconventional situations families face.
